Dylan Wykes Beats Beethoven, twice
Sunday June 1st 2014 was a beautiful day and perfect for the 2014 Beat Beethoven 8K Race event. This race is an annual spring run which draws several hundred participants for the 8K and the untimed 4K distances. Funds raised for this race go to the Kingston Symphony Orchestra.
Kingston's own and Canadian Marathon Olympian, Dylan Wykes dropped by for a visit and decided to run the Beat Beethoven Race. Dylan ran the 8K to finish first, but Dylan didn't stop there. To beat Beethoven, a runner needs to complete the 8K distance in under 50 minutes. Dylan decided to do it TWICE within 50 minutes.
Here are the top three male runners. Needless to say, Dylan came in first even with the second time.
- Dylan Wykes (24:29.3)
- Clay Patterson (25:42.1)
- Jason Choi (26:29.7)
Women top three finishers...
- Margarita Babkova (33:43.7)
- Michelle Truax (33:57.2)
- Rachael Morkem (34:14.7)
Full results can be viewed here on sportstats.ca. Since the 4K Run was not officially timed (no one were given chips), there are no results. Some of the photos may show the clock.
The photos from the event are divided into separate, animated galleries.
