The Kingston Zombie Walk begins...

...and the zombies were just getting warmed up!!
As I approached McBurney Park (aka Skeleton Park) in the east of Kingston on Saturday October 20th, 2012, I noticed a herd of the undead encircling a group of people. As the herd of bloody, shambling, ragged zombies approached their victims, it was clear to me the people in the center of the herd, were quite enjoying themselves. They were a punk rock wedding party posing for pics and a gaggle of enthusiastic photographers...
This was the start point of the Kingston Zombie Walk and the zombies definitely heard the dinner bell ring because they arrived in all shapes and sizes. From as young as pre-school to gruesome grannies, two legs and four and even on wheels. It was a sight sure to terrify.
You might notice some of the images — eyes, teeth, skin palor etc — looks a little extra weird, that's because a little photoshop magic was thrown into some of the images... just for a little extra zombie zazz.
Zombie Walks have been growing in popularity over the years, thanks greatly to the amazing hit TV series The Walking Dead (is Rick kicking a$$ or what?). These annual walks have been happening in cities all over the world. Kingston is no exception. A 365 photographer also captured the Owen Sound Zombie Walk (photos to come).
Within the Kingston zombie herd, under the grime and dried blood, one could see some Queen's University clothing, St. Lawrence College.
The cool thing about getting down 'n dirty into the world of zombies is unlike those snooty vampires, zombies are inclusive and the great equalizer.
There's no elitism in the zombie world. Everyone is invited to be a gut chomper. The more, uhhh... the scarier...
Even though you are part of the herd, your creativity can shine. How you make yourself up is celebrated. And yes, anatomical accuracy is regaled, (those med students have a leg up, I suppose...)
Stay tuned for more photos from the walk itself and the onslaught which took place at the end of the Walk.
