Hiking the west rocks in Owen Sound
Owen Sound has many amazing secrets that even a lifetime resident can miss. One such hidden gem are the various paths and trails which line the west hill of the city, along the Niagara Escarpment; known as the West Rocks. The Escarpment boasts some of the most incredible rock walls and cave-like formations in the area. But you wouldn't know it unless you were prepared to investigate.

This hike starts by heading south from City Hall in downtown Owen Sound, up past the Greenwood Cemetary and above the Creamery Hill. Once you crest the hill and it flattens out you take the first right which is 9th Avenue West and is a dead end. Our hike begins here and takes the troupe along a gentle path which then presents some amazing rock faces which can be navigated by those who like to climb. This hike is not for those who need level ground or for the faint-of-heart. If you like to explore crevices, caverns and love to add in a little adventure to your treks, this is the hike for you.
This particular hike was in October, so enjoy the autumn colours.
